Harvest time has passed
the season exhales…
tonight seems longer still.

The air turns cold –
touching his skin
restless by moonlight

A silent wind stirs the leaves
whispers of sun
call him home…

Lay down all burdens –
your self, the fallow sound
a garden gate closing…

What is this?
Freedom to move!
Limbs like spring currents

O, that light is so vital
shimmering on the water –
inhale deeply and dive underneath.

The surface is broken
only ripples remain
of a man crossing the river

His family and friends cheer
voices lifting the fall chill
distant bells sounding VICTORY.

Moss hanging
………………….from Maple trees
Sword Ferns stand still -
the cougar’s tail twitches…

Depression of paws
night time comes to sniff the lawn -
the hearth fire yawns…
